Bills in other currencies, converted at the day’s rate, a Storage side on New bill, and a payment sent by mistake can be taken back.

Other currencies

  • A bill can be entered in another currency. It is converted to the group’s currency at the day’s rate, and the bill keeps what it was entered as.
  • A receipt scanned abroad picks its own currency, and each group remembers the one you used last.

Storage

  • New bill has a Storage side: put something in the household’s storage without writing a bill.
  • Scan name can read the whole label and fill in the name, brand and size at once. It runs on the device first; if that cannot tell, only the words go to Apple’s Private Cloud Compute, never the photo.

Household bills

  • A recurring bill set up after its due day can start this month instead of next.
  • The form asks plainly whether each payment is made before or after the month it pays for, and shows which month each bill lands in.
  • When Add is greyed out, the form says what is missing, and a custom split starts out adding up to the total.

Settling up

  • Recording money someone paid you asks first, because it cannot be undone.
  • A payment you sent can be withdrawn while it waits for the other person.

Groups and fixes

  • A group with unpaid bills can be deleted together with them, once its admin owes nobody.
  • Saving a bill for one person twice no longer creates the same group twice, and actions that fail now say so.

Apple Intelligence reads the receipt photo itself, Siri can add a bill, and receipts in Japanese, Korean and Chinese are read properly.

Reading a receipt

  • Where the device supports Apple Intelligence, Chiipin reads the photo itself rather than only the text on it. A receipt it cannot manage on its own is handled by Apple’s Private Cloud Compute, which does not store it; the picture never reaches us.
  • When a reading comes up short, you can ask for a second, more careful one.
  • Receipts in Japanese, Korean and Chinese are read properly now, on any device — including yen and won amounts, which carry no decimals.
  • A receipt printed in another currency says what it totals instead of filling the bill with a number in the wrong money.
  • Choosing items off a receipt is one screen, and it says what each reading found.

Siri

  • “Add a bill in Chiipin” records a bill by voice. Siri asks which group it belongs to before it asks the amount.
  • Profile has a Siri page with the phrase and a link to Shortcuts.

Fixes

  • Changing the language turns the whole app, not parts of it.
  • The list of ways to pay is ordered by your currency rather than by the language you read in.
  • Detecting items no longer crashes on a receipt whose last line is the total.

Widgets for your Home Screen, notifications in the app’s own language, and amounts that keep their currency.

Widgets

  • Home Screen, Lock Screen and Control Center widgets: your balance, the household bills due next, what storage needs restocking, and a button that opens a new bill.
  • Profile has a Widgets page that shows each one with your own figures, and how to add it.

Notifications and activity

  • Push notifications, the notification inbox and the activity feed read in the language you picked for Chiipin, not the one the phone is set to.
  • Chiipin reloads on its own when someone in your group or household saves something, instead of waiting for a pull to refresh.

Scanning a receipt

  • The scan says which step it is on and can be cancelled, and reading the text no longer holds up the screen.

Currencies

  • Singapore dollar and Malaysian ringgit can be picked, and every amount shows the currency of the bill, group or household it belongs to.
  • Changing a group’s currency first says which bills follow and that amounts are not converted.

First time on a screen

  • New bill, household bills, Storage and Settle each point out, once, the thing there that is easy to miss.

Chiipin on iPad, and payment details that list the ways people actually pay where you live.

On iPad

  • Chiipin now runs full screen on iPad, in portrait and landscape.
  • Home and Household use the extra width for two columns: the month’s calendar and bills on one side, what they add up to on the other.
  • Groups keeps the list beside the group you open, Settle shows what settling with someone involves beside the people you share bills with, and Profile keeps its settings beside the page you pick.
  • Bills, Storage and every other page stay at a comfortable width instead of stretching across the screen.
  • Add bill sits in the corner, within reach from anywhere.
  • In a narrow window, Chiipin lays itself out as it does on iPhone.

Payment details

  • Add FPS, PayMe, LINE Pay, PayPay, KakaoPay, Toss, Cash App and more, with methods common where you live listed first.
  • People paying you see the ways common where they are first, and can copy any of them in one tap. Only people who share a group or household with you and owe you money can see them.

Fairer splits you can see before you save, one payment that settles everything with a person, and a household that reads a month at a time.

Split it fairly

  • Portions: give someone 2 for the extra lunch they packed, or 0 to leave them out.
  • See who’s in and what each person carries before you create the bill.
  • “What this changes” shows how your balance with each person moves.
  • A new bill starts on the category you last used in that household or group.

Fix it together

  • Anyone in a group can correct a bill, and everyone on it hears what changed.

Settle once

  • One payment per person clears every group you share, in both directions.
  • Payments waiting on you can be confirmed or turned down in one tap.
  • Add your e-Transfer, PayPal or other details, and people paying you see them.

Your household, a month at a time

  • One page for the household, and the month you turn to governs all of it.
  • Every bill shows your part and who owes whom.
  • A repeating bill says which stretch of time it pays for, and splits by the days each person lived there.
  • A bill left unpaid last period carries onto this month.

Home and groups at a glance

  • Home shows your household, storage and groups, and what is waiting on you.
  • Groups shows your net across groups and each group’s latest activity. Settled groups fold away.

Your settings

  • Choose which notifications reach your lock screen.
  • Set the reminder new things in storage start with.
  • Traditional and Simplified Chinese, Japanese and Korean throughout.

The house itself, not just its bills: what you keep, what is running low, what goes off when, and what it costs to keep buying it.

Storage

  • What your household keeps in the house: what is there, how much is left, and who needs to buy more.
  • Mark something running low or out and everyone else is told.
  • File things under categories you name yourself — kitchen, bathroom, under the sink.
  • An icon for everything, including the things icon sets usually forget. A photo of the real thing with Chiipin Pro.
  • Put it in the order you want it. Nothing rearranges itself behind you.

Before it goes off

  • Put the date printed on the packet on anything that has one.
  • Choose how much warning you want for each thing — milk and paracetamol are not the same question.
  • The whole household hears in the morning, in your household’s own time zone.

Scan instead of type

  • Scan a barcode to find something already in storage, or to add something new.
  • Read a product name straight off the packet instead of typing it out.
  • Scan your way down the trolley and the bill writes its own lines.

From storage to a bill, and back again

  • Pick what you have run out of and Chiipin writes the shopping bill for you, brand and size included.
  • After a bill is split, put what you bought back in storage without typing any of it twice.
  • Chiipin learns what your till calls things, so the next shop at the same place matches itself.

What things cost

  • Every time you have bought a thing, on its own page.
  • How often you buy it, and roughly what that comes to in a month.
  • Filling in the price on a restock? Chiipin says whether this trip is dearer than the last one, and by how much.

  • Choose the colour Chiipin uses, from the range that stays readable in both light and dark.

Deposits done properly, recurring bills you can change your mind about, and a home screen that keeps only what is waiting on you.

Deposits

  • Record more than one: the damage deposit, the pet deposit, the keys.
  • Say what each resident put in, not just the total.
  • Close one out three ways — returned, put towards a bill, or forfeited — and Chiipin works out who owes whom.

Repeating bills can be changed

  • Edit one after you have made it: the amount, the split, the day it falls due, what it is called.
  • Change the amount and this month’s bill follows, unless someone has already paid into it.
  • Stop one for good. The bills it already made stay where they are.
  • When a bill changes, the people who owe a share of it are told, each with their own new figure.

Home, rebuilt

  • Home keeps only what is waiting on you.
  • One card per household with the month’s progress, instead of a row for every bill.
  • Tap what needs confirming and you land on that exact payment in Settle.
  • The spending charts moved to Reports, in full.

History, per scope

  • The clock opens the history of what you are looking at: a group, a household, or everything.
  • A household’s past months sit side by side, each bill with its own trend.

Currency

  • Choose it when you make a group or a household, instead of every bill quietly landing in US dollars.
  • Correct a group’s currency and the bills still outstanding follow it.
